The Proper Helmet Fit

It’s not enough to simply buy a bicycle helmet – it should be properly fitted, adjusted, and worn each time you ride.

Helmets come in various sizes, just like hats. Size can vary between manufacturers. For the most comprehensive list of helmet sizes according to manufacturers, go to the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute (BHSI) site: http://www.danscomp.com/products/charts/helmetchart.htm

To select and properly fit a bicycle helmet, follow the helmet fitting instructions below. It may take some time to ensure a proper fit.

Bicycle Safety

Bicycle riding is fun, healthy, and a great way to be independent. But it is important to remember that a bicycle is not a toy; it’s a vehicle! Always follow some basic safety tips when you ride.

Safe Riding Tips

Before using your bicycle, make sure it is ready to ride. You should always inspect your bike to make sure all parts are secure and working properly.

Norfolk XC Series June 23 Edition

A huge field of mountain bikers braved the heat and humidity for the second race in the Norfolk XC Series held June 23 at Maskenthine Lake north of Stanton. The twelve riders who signed up to race made this the largest XC race to date for the Tuesday night series. The heat and humidity took its toll on the entire field, with all riders suffering in the elements. The large field made for great racing however, more than making up for some slightly slower lap times overall.

It's Better To Drink Beer After Exercise Than Water (Yay!)

Researchers at Granada University in Spain have come across a discovery that will undoubtedly please athletes and sports enthusiasts - a pint of beer post-workout or match is better at rehydrating the human body than water.

Professor Manuel Garzon, a member of Granada's medical faculty, made the finding after tests on 25 students over several months. Researchers believe that it is the sugars, salts, and bubbles in a beer that may help people absorb fluids more quickly.
